Project Overview

Glenco Electric was assigned to design, redevelop, and install the electrical systems for the Riverview Lands with a new building, to provide multi-disciplinary mental health services for British Columbians. This new building houses 38 beds, along with academic, program, and recreational spaces. The scope of the electrical design and installation is a 2-year contract, worth $8.5-million.

Project Details

The project included the design and installation of a 1000kVA indoor unit substation, with a 600kW generator and two 80kVA uninterruptible power sources. We also managed the IMIT (Information Management/Information Technology), AV (Audio/Video), and security systems, as well as all life safety systems, which includes fire alarms, emergency lighting and exit signs. Upon completion of the electrical installation, BC Hydro approved to upgrade the capacity of the substation from 12.5kV to 25kV, to meet expected load growth. This required us to shut down and tap the double wound high voltage unit substation for 25kV.
