Glenco Electric - Electrical Design and Construction - West Vancouver City Hall and Police Station Installation

Project Overview

The scope of this project involved increasing the size of the current District of West Vancouver City Hall building, while adding a full Police Services Building and the construction of a new parking structure. This complex project required tying into a full-occupied, operational building, while switching over all electrical systems. The scope of the electrical design and installation was $3-million.

Project Details

The project included the design and installation of a 1500kVA indoor unit substation with a 500kW generator. We also oversaw the IMIT (Information Management/Information Technology), AV (Audio/Video), and security sub-contractors. This challenging installation required moving the existing substation to the new building, as well as cutting over the existing electrical service to the new electrical system, without disrupting City Hall’s daily operations. The project included four transfer switches, required to manage the existing City Hall building, the new City Hall building, the new police station, and a fire pump.
